My Son’s Dream

Every morning when I get to the office, I have the same routine.  I boot my computer, and head to the kitchen for a coffee.  When I return back to my desk my computer is ready for the day.  I then go through all of my e- mails that came in from the night before.  I add items to my “to do list” that need follow up, and delete the rest.

There is one particular routine that I go through every day that sets the tone for the day.   That is reading a homework assignment my son completed two years ago in 3rd grade.  The assignment was to write a story about your dream, and I thought I would share it with you.

My Dream

I have always wanted to do the same job my Dad does.   He gives other people jobs.  I would like to do that too. He also gets to fire people.  It might be hard to do that. I would try to be the best business person I could be, so that my boss would not fire me. I would also like to have a Blackberry.  A Blackberry is a hand size computer.  Although it does not look like a regular computer, some Blackberrys are not black. I think it’s a good job, but hard job to do.  I hope I can do this job and make friends just like my Dad.

To Bailey this was just another school assignment, not to me.  This assignment provides a bright spot for me on a daily basis. Thanks Bailey.

The reality is that Bailey’s perception is spot on.  Being in the recruiting industry is probably one of the most gratifying jobs you can have.  There is nothing more gratifying then finding that perfect job for a candidate and changing their lives and their family’s lives.

Being in the Telecom industry for the past 10 years I have certainly seen a lot of changes.  Bailey wanted a Blackberry two years ago and now an iPhone. Technology has really advanced in the past two years.  Staying in front of these technology advances like VOIP, 2G to 4G, and Wi-Max has always been a fun challenge for me. But it’s a challenge I welcome everyday.

Like Bailey, I too want to be the best business person I can be. With rapidly changing technology and different jobs to match every day, I imagine I’ll be loving my job for years to come.
