Caller ID and voicemail are the IT manager’s best friend. They allow you to ignore distracting calls to focus on the monumental tasks of your day. They also help you build a wall around your IT fortress to keep invading vendors away. As a manager myself, I understand that a call back just adds more clutter to your task list.
While picking up the phone seems aggravating, there is a potential upside in every discussion you have regarding your IT talent needs, especially when market conditions are tough.
