Bio

Michael Whitmer is Hudson's CIO for North America. He is responsible for all aspects of application solutions, technical operations, and IT delivery and strategy. Whitmer has a strong background integrating technology into business operations and managing complex enterprise technology, from infrastructure to applications.

Since 2001, Mike has acquired significant staffing industry experience, having managed 100+ member technology departments supporting over $1.9 billion in revenue and more than 50,000 external resources on a weekly basis.

Whitmer’s professional achievements include a multi-million dollar PeopleSoft implementation; the architecture of multiple reporting & analysis solutions, customer contact and data warehousing platforms; and technology integrations for mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to Hudson, Mike was the VP of Information Services for Spherion Corporation, Whitmer led the Applications Solutions, Field Technology, and Technology Strategy organizations for Spherion's Staffing and Professional groups. Previously, he served as Director of Technology Strategy for software and services firm Witness Systems, and he also has experience as a manager, senior consultant, and technical architect with firms such as AT&T , MCI, and Turner Broadcasting Systems.

Cloud Computing is becoming a very real consideration for CIOs in most industries in 2010. As the Global CIO here at Hudson, my job is to keep the operations of our company efficient, cost effective, and highly catered to the needs of our employees, clients, and consultants. To be able to meet these objectives I, along with my IT team, are heavily involved in exploring Cloud Computing options for many different aspects of our operation, from CRM and messaging applications to storage and infrastructure. I offered to share my Cloud Computing experiences with my colleagues here at Hudson IT, because they are putting highly skilled IT pros to work every day.

Hudson’s CIO Update – 4 Tips for Technology Innovation

While survival is the paramount concern these days, how you survive will determine your true legacy. Today, IT groups must prepare for the inevitable rebound by investing in change. It’s not just about “keeping the lights on;” it’s about tuning the engine that makes innovation possible. If it doesn’t positively affect the bottom line, the top line and/or increase efficiencies, then it is not the change your company needs today. IT groups and enterprise stakeholders must have a tough dialogue on technology investments. During lean times, many enterprises cut IT to the bone. Typically the projects that survive will offer high value to the sustainability of the technology platform.
